I see my art as an offering to the energy of life, drawn to explore the internal and external landscapes of my experiences. There is a striving to illustrate the unexplainable, the intensity of my experiences and the experiences of others. Visions come into my mind's eye with words or song, with the hope to interpret these messages and transform the energy into something alive and tangible.
Attention goes to peeling paint on rusted metal, the raw scratched surface on the back of a semi truck, old wood from 100 year old barns, rusted farm equipment, nails, and bolts. Drawn to these objects from long ago, seemingly useless things, there is something in the disintegration for me to find. Hearing the echos of these objects, the vibrations tell a story.
The search for a deeper understanding of life and death propels me forward. My inquiry is: What does that place look like that is untouchable, that is in-between life and death? By spending time with something, the energy is known. Even if its essence could be touched for a while with the tip of my paintbrush, it will soon transform into something else. It is only in the moment of expressing, that these experiences can be embraced.
